Basic (Elementary) First Aid on Board Ship Course

The basic (elementary) first aid course for Seafarers enables them to apply immediate basic first aid in event of an accident or illness on board ship.
The level of knowledge of the subjects shall be sufficient to enable the designated seafarer to take immediate effective action described in the subjects list in the table A- VI/1-3.
Who should attend?
All seafarers. Seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship on the business of that ship as part of ship’s complement with designated safety or pollution – prevention duties in the operation of the ship shall, before being assigned to any shipboard duties.
Pre course Requirements:
Able to read, write and understand basic English
Course Fees: $535.00 (inclusive of GST)
Duration: 15 hours inclusive of assessment (excluding breaks) – 2 days
a) Assumed skills and knowledge:
ESS Workplace literacy and numeracy Level 5 and above, ‘O’ Levels or equivalent.
b) Medical Fitness:
Trainees with any medical history or underlying heart and/or lung conditions or any medical problems associated to knee, spine, wrist or joints injury or any physical/mental disabilities are advised to obtain clearance from doctor to attend the course and assessments. Pregnant ladies are highly discouraged from undertaking the CPR practice due to safety reasons
