Advancing with ACLS: Which ACLS Course To Take?

Why an ACLS Course?

As a healthcare professional in Singapore, it’s important to keep up to date with advancements in cardiac care. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) courses ensure you do just that.

Designed specifically for those in the medical sector, an ACLS course is structured to educate you on the clinical interventions for the urgent treatment of life-threatening medical emergencies. Most ACLS courses in Singapore require a prior certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).

Life-saving skills such as advanced airway management, ECG interpretation, and more are covered during the course. These skills are critical for nurses, doctors, medical specialists and other principal roles within the medical field that deal directly with patients requiring cardiac care.

At our centre, we offer two ACLS Courses: the American Heart Association (AHA) -recognised ACLS Course and the SRFAC ACLS Blended Course, as accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC). While both offer similar certifications, some differences should be noted before making your decision.

For over 100 years, the American Heart Association has been one of the leading organisations in fighting heart diseases and strokes.

Our AHA-recognised ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS), emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR delivered during cardiac care.

Suitable for healthcare professionals looking to work internationally, the course provides a 2-year validity in AHA ACLS Provider Certification. It follows the AHA guidelines as aligned with the International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation (ILCOR).

Structured as a 1.5 day course, it is mostly conducted in-person at our training centre, led by our team of medical trainers. From video-based learning and interactive scenarios to hands-on simulation, you’ll be sure to leave the course fully equipped with the skills to confidently carry out effective cardiac care.

Do take note that prior certification in BLS from an AHA authorised training centre is required.

Similar to the previous course, our SRFAC ACLS Blended course covers similar topics, while emphasising on the importance of high quality CPR with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions as well as effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

Accredited by the SRFAC, this course is better suited for medical professionals based in Singapore and neighbouring regional areas. The course is structured to allow for claimable Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points, particularly for nurses and midwives.

Within 1.5 days, with a mixture of online and in-person lessons, you’ll cover localised case studies, hands on simulation and curated assessments that will cover all aspects of ACLS. You’ll leave with a 2-year validity in ACLS Certification.

Prior certification in BCLS + AED from a SRFAC-accredited training centre is required.

Which One’s For Me?

While both offer similar certifications, it all depends on where you decide to practice.

The SRFAC ACLS Blended Course is more relevant for Singapore-based professionals that require certification with the regional hospitals, while the AHA ACLS Course offers internationally recognised certification that is more widely accepted around the world.

No matter which course you decide on, we’ll be here to guide you through every step of the way.
