Updated: Dec 5

Walking into the classroom, we were first greeted by the soft crooning vocals of Backstreet Boys, complementing Trainer Haerul’s demonstration of an arm sling

— adding excellent music taste to his long list of skills.

This was evident from the smiles on participants’ faces as they practiced bandaging each other. One was even singing along quietly as he steadily wrapped his partner’s arm, under the watchful eye of our trainer.

From 25th to 27th November, SFATC hosted an Occupational First Aid (OFA) Course for OCBC Bank, offering employees invaluable skills in emergency response and injury management.

Led by our experienced Trainer Haerul, this comprehensive three-day program was packed with interactive hands-on and theory sessions—empowering participants to be prepared for any workplace emergency.

Why Occupational First Aid Matters

A workplace emergency can strike without warning, and having trained first aiders on hand can reduce the severity of injuries and boost confidence among staff.

By equipping employees with essential first aid knowledge, workplaces demonstrate an investment in their teams’ well-being.

Course Highlights

Our Occupational First Aid course was designed to meet WSH (Workplace Safety & Health) and MOM (Ministry of Manpower) safety standards.

It was specifically created to equip frontline staff, first responders, and other leaders in the workplace with the basic skills needed to keep themselves and their colleagues safe.

Looking Ahead

Whether it’s responding to a choking incident, providing CPR, or crafting an emergency plan, first aid training prepares individuals to step up when it matters most.

By prioritising their employees, workplaces can further strengthen the bond and loyalty within the team.

Knowing they are responsible for each other’s safety brings colleagues closer, creating a safe and secure environment to work in thus reinstating the importance of occupational first aid in the workplace.
